Community Programs
First Church has an active presence in the Winthrop community as we seek to give back and support those in need. Some of our ministries include:
Thrift Shop
- The Thrift Shop is open on the 2nd and 4th Thursday and Saturday of each month, from 10 AM - 1PM. If you are in need of clothing and cannot visit during these times, we are happy to arrange another time for you. Please leave a message at our church office (617-846-0708).
- Donations of clean, gently used clothing are gratefully accepted. You may bring donations to the Office door during our weekly office hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 9AM - 2PM. The Office door is located in the back of the church, accessed via the parking lot. If you need to arrange another drop-off time outside of office hours, please leave a message at our church office: 617-846-0708.
- We greatly appreciate all who volunteer in our Thrift Shop. If you would like to volunteer to sort clothes or work the check-out desk, please contact the church office.
Please note: The large blue drop-boxes in our parking lot does not go to our Thrift Shop. The clothes in that bin are shipped to an organization called Helpsy, which sells or recycles the clothes. For clothes that are still able to be worn, we encourage you to donate them instead to the Thrift Shop, which allows them to stay in use in our Winthrop community. If you are uncertain if the clothes are usable, we are happy to sort through them. We can then place the unusable clothes in the Helpsy box.
Winthrop Food Pantry
On the third Sunday of each month, First Church has a collection of food and monetary donations for the Winthrop Community Food Pantry.
Men's Breakfast
The Men's Breakfast group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month (except summer months, July and August) in the Burnside Room at 7:30 AM for breakfast and fellowship. All are welcome!

First Church hosts several dinners throughout the year for our Winthrop community. Check our home page or the church newsletter for dates and times.
